If you do not see your insurance listed, please call and we will assist you in finding out if you have out-of-network benefits. We also offer a self-pay rate for services if you are uninsured or prefer to not use your insurance.
The Counseling Center of Expressive Arts provides mental health services to clients regardless of their ability to pay. Discounts for mental health services are offered depending upon family size and income. You may apply for a discount by calling 915.845.3122 and requesting an application. Documentation is required.
For clients that wish to not bill their insurance, we also offer self-pay rates.

Insurance benefits will be verified before your first visit and you will also be informed of the amount of your copayment prior to the first session. All copayments are due at the time of service.
Although benefits are verified, they are not guaranteed. Client responsibility may be higher or lower once claims are processed.
We understand that things in life may prevent you from keeping your appointment. We ask that you contact our staff at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. If you do not cancel with at least 24 hours notice or do not show up, a $50 fee for a missed appointment will be charged to your account.

When you call to schedule your first appointment our Business Office staff will ask you for the following information:
- Demographic Information: name of caller, name of possible client, date of birth, home address, and telephone number.
- Education Information: grade, school
- Referral Source: How did you hear about CCOEA?
- Counselor preference: Male or Female LPC-Intern, LPC, LMFT
- Reason for seeking counseling
- Insurance phone number (MH/Customer Service)
- Appointment Availability: day and time best suited for you
If the client is a child (ages 2-18) our staff will ask you for the following information:
- Are parents divorced?
- Who has custody?
- Copy of most recent divorce decree (custody explanations) is required
- Insurance Information:
- Sponsor’s name
- Sponsor’s ID No.
- Sponsor’s date of birth
Different types of therapeutic services are offered at CCOEA. We provide individual, group, couple, and family therapy for children and adults. We use a variety of approaches including play therapy, art therapy, expressive arts therapy, sand tray therapy, and traditional talk therapy. With over fifteen counselors on staff, we can match you with the clinician that best suits your needs.

LPC – Licensed Professional Counselor
LPC-Intern – Licensed Professional Counselor – Intern
LPC-S – Licensed Professional Counselor – Supervisor
LMFT – Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
LMFT-A – Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist – Associate
LMFT-S – Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist – Supervisor
RPT – Registered Play Therapist
RPT-S – Registered Play Therapist – Supervisor
LPCs, LPC-Interns, LPC-Ss, LMFTs, and LMFT-Ss are granted to individuals with a Master’s Degree in Counseling or a related field, such as Psychology or Marriage and Family Therapy and have passed all required state exams. Each license is awarded by the state of Texas
LPC-Interns are post-graduate individuals that have passed all required state exams. LPC-Interns must be supervised by a Licensed Professional Counseling Supervisor (LPC-S) for 3,000 hours and 1,500 of those hours must take place in session with clients. Once those hours are completed over a period of time no less than 18 months the LPC-Intern may become fully licensed as an LPC. LPC-Interns at CCOEA are supervised by LPC Supervisors on staff at CCOEA.
Starting at age 2, we see all ages of clients and tailor our interventions for each person’s developmental needs.
We offer appointments 6 days a week:
Monday – Friday 8 am to 8 pm
Saturdays, 8 am to 5 pm
Generally most insurance companies do not require a referral. Please contact our business office staff if you have further questions regarding referrals for our services.
Presently, CCOEA does not employ physicians. Medications are not prescribed by our staff.
Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of your first appointment to fill out paperwork.
During your appointment your counselor will collect information from you and your family.
If the services are for an individual under the age of 14, we ask that the parent(s) or caregiver(s) attend the initial session alone.
The usual length of an appointment is 45-53 minutes.
